Neverbust Blue Sky in Chains

Installed between Columbia, SC's historic Kress and Sylvan Brothers buildings covertly on a Sunday morning in the year 2000, this 25 foot welded steel chain is a colaboration between public artist Blue Sky and professional welder Dewayne Rice. A later hearing by The City of Columbia's Landmarks Commission allowed the sculpture to remain. Blue Sky's explanation for why he put the chain there? "One building looked like it was leaning a little bit."
