Cal U - The Ascent of Humanity

Created by Allan Cottrill of Washington, PA, was unveiled after commencement on May 4, 1996. The sculpture consistes of 15 human figures in bonded bronze, each one 8 to 10 feet tall, ascending 2 adjoining walls of the Duda World Cultures building. The sculpture begins woth a Cro-Magnon man at the bottom and ends with a female astronaught at the top, in between are figures representing various races and cultures of the world. This sculpture is an inspiration to humanity's quest for excellence and the ascent to knowledge, wisdom, caring, resposibility, and humanity.
