One of the most iconic buildings in the west of Ipswich, the lido with its stunning art Deco architecture was opened in 1938. Originally was heated to 70'F but the boilers were requisitioned as part of the war effort. After cracks were discovered winning at the pool ceased in 2002, however campaigners assured the future of the pool by making sure it was conferred listing building status, the pool is now likely to be renovated and used for swimming by 2016
