Near this spot, Tell Taylor, while fishing along the Blanchard riverbank one summer day in 1908 wrote The Ballad Down by the Old Mill Stream. The song was not published until 1910. A whitstable singable tune depicting country scenes and teenage romance ,the ballad received instant acclaim and continues to be sung the world over. Born October 28, 1876 in Vanlue Ohio Tell Taylor lived most of his life in Findlay. He died in Chicago November 23rd 1937 en route to Hollywood California to film the story of this, his most popular song.
