One of the 4 chief Norman castles of Cornwall, Kastell Lanstefan, as it's known in Cornish, was raised in 1067 by Robert, Count of Mortain - half brother of William the Conqueror. Prince Charles was officially proclaimed Duke of Cornwall at Launceston Castle in 1973.
