Laura Williams owned the antique museum which housed numerous artifacts from Jerome. Laura was one of the founding members of the Jerome Historical Society and served as the Secretary/Treasurer from 1953-1974. She was an employee of Newmont Exploration, LTD and assisted in negotiating the purchase of all the real estate at one time owned by the Jerome Historical Society. She was active in the American Legion, Secretary of Eastern Star for 32 years and Secretary-Treasurer for the Haven Methodist Church. Laura died on May 20, 1982 at the age of 76. Laura's mother Mrs. Melena Metzler, was the manager of the Mountain View House, a hotel in the early days of Jerome. This site, next to the historic Boyd Hotel, housed a two-story frame building in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Businesses included George Bagnall, The Shoe Maker, Merrill's Barber Shop and some dressmaking parlors. The park has been shared by local artists as an art park since the mid 1980's.
