Old Salt represents the spirit of warmth and hospitality in New England as he holds a lantern to guide the way of visitors to the Lakes Region. He was carved by chainsaw artist Mike Blaine on August 16, 1994 out of a single ten foot native yellow one log weighing 5000 pounds.
