Haverhill Brickett Grave

Haverhill, United States

Haverhill's militia fought at the Battle of Bunker Hill in 1775. They were lead by Lieutenant Colonel James Brickett (his grave stone, seen here, is in the Pentucket Burial Ground on Water Street).  Brickett began his medical career as a surgeon's mate in the French and Indian war, set up his practice here in Haverhill, and then served again in the Battle of Bunker Hill where he was wounded. By 1776, he was promoted to Brigadier General and served at the "sea battle" on Lake Champlain. After the War, he settled back into his house on Water Street with his family. The house was demolished in 1938.
