Grave Of Col. George Ward

Worcester, United States

George H. Ward, colonel of the 15th Mass Vol. Infantry, lost a leg due to injury at the Battle of Ball's Bluff, Leesburg, Virginia on 10/21/1861. After recovery, he rejoined the regiment and died of wounds received at the Battle of Gettysburg on July 2, 1863. The irony being that the mortal wound was in his remain leg.
