Minnesota Point Lighthouse
Duluth, United States
Originally built in 1858, the Minnesota Point Lighthouse was the first lighthouse to be built in the state. It stood approximately 40 feet tall and was constructed with red brick; it was then coated with white mortar for greater visibility. It is also known as the "Point Zero Lighthouse" because it was built upon the zero point chosen by Henry W. Bayfield of the British Navy in his first survey of Lake Superior in 1823.
