Custard the Bustard

County bird of Wiltshire . The Great Bustard (Otis Tarda) appears on Wiltshire flag and coat of arms and is the heaviest flying animal. Hunted out of extinction in this country in the 1840s the birds have now been reintroduced to Salisbury Plain. An historic example , conserved by Wiltshire Conservation Service in Chippenham, can be found in the "old" part of county hall at the stairs to the council chambers.
