New Beginnings (Nuevo Comienzo) Father's of the Republic of Texas Stephan F. Austin (November 3, 1793 - December 27, 1836) - known as the "Father of Texas". As the Founder of Texas , Austin led the second, and ultimately successful, colonization of the region of Texas by bringing 300 families from the United States to the region in 1825. Jose Antonio Navarro (February 27, 1795 -January 13, 1871) - True Texan hero and patriot, whose efforts were instrumental in securing Texas' independence.Navarro was one of three Hispanics and two native Texans to sign the Texas Declaration of Independence.
