The Nine Maidens is the pub for North West Dundee, used by people from St Marys, Brackens, Ardler and West Kirkton. This pub has kept the name nine maidens since opening in the 1970s the name refers to local legend about the 9 maidens of Dundee. The 9 maidens were allegedly slaughtered by a dragon. The dragon was then fought by Martin who slaughtered the dragon. The pub is named this due to the vicinity to this to this story.
