Joseph Cheaney & Sons

Northamptonshire has a long history of shoemaking, and Desborough has been one of the active centres throughout that history. The Cheany family were a traditional shoemaking family, but as the work began to be industrialised Joseph Cheaney started his own company on Station Road near this factory in 1886. In 1896 the family opened up this factory on Rushden Road and Cheany have been making shoes here ever since.
